Better Cities.

Year 4, 5 & 6.

Context

Today, more than half the people in the world live in an urban area. By 2050, it is predicted that this number will rise to 70% of the world’s population. Throughout this project, children looked at the many different ways that people live around the world and identified how our lifestyles can impact the environment and the other people around us. They explored possible improvements that they could make to our city, as well as designing cities for the future to create more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable communities for all.

The Audience

MGS Architects

We exist to create quietly brilliant places — places with longevity and adaptability that deliver daily value to the people who use them.

The Problem

The population of Melbourne is growing faster than other cities of a similar size, leading to issues that threaten its environmental, economic and social sustainability.

The Solution

Redesign an area in Spotswood to improve environmental, social and/or economic sustainability. Create a prototype and pitch ideas to MGS Architects.
